So, are you guys like a band or something? Who says you can't dance on the street? When you hear a funky tune, with a funky beat Where you don't have to be rich or buy a beer To hear what everyone else can hear Gotta' bring it back to where it was at To a time when Demons roamed the land Building a stage out of concrete for a wage And playing all day, making music for change Where will the music go? Let's take it to the street You can dance right here and have no fear of people's curiosity Where did the the music go? We took it to the street People stare but we don't care, because that's the way we like it We're shaking downtown from the sky to the ground Tryin' to find a Spadina Bus in China town Bards on a quest to the depths of Queen West Carving the way with some tunes for all the rest So if it's some funky times you seek You can find it out there any day of the week And when you thinks its nowhere to be found You'll find some Demons still kicking around Where will the music go? Let's take it to the street You can dance right here and have no fear of people's curiosity Where did the the music go? We took it to the street People stare but we don't care, because that's the way we like it

If you find yourself underground late at night Where the shadows of the city hide the neon Listen, searching with your ears and what you'll hear Is the sound of a party that most would fear There are legends lost in darkness But they really don't seam to mind If you try to fit in you'll just slip right through, Less you remember this piece of advice You must sing Pa pa, da da pa, da ra pa Pa pa, da pa, da da Pa pa, da da pa, da ra pa Pa pa, da pa, da da Some may never know the music these ghosts have made But please, do come back everyday when the sun fades away All they want is for somebody to listen to their show If you wanna sing along, there's one thing that you should know They all sing Pa pa, da da pa, da ra pa Pa pa, da pa, da da Pa pa, da da pa, da ra pa Pa pa, da pa, da da

about

Turbo History

We started Turbo Street Funk to help keep live music accessible in our community; the streets of Toronto. Reflecting the city's pulsing multicultural vibe, me moulded out sound from influences far and wide, and made it's sidewalks our asphalt playground. We are striving to contribute to keep music sustainable, relevant and honest.

We started off playing on the streets; making friends, having fun, and most importantly, staying faithful to ourselves and our town. These are experiences we too to heart when we started getting serious about recording this album. It captures us in our element: live off the floor, honest and playing hard. We hope you like it as much as we do.

Special Thanks

We would like to thank our friends and family for their support, George Koller for his faith in us and our music, Bernie Cisternas for his magical sound engineering, George Rondina and Nathalie Kraemer from Studio Number 9, the Giraldo Family for letting us use their home as a rehearsal space, Alice Sellwood, Derek Andrews, the Shuffle Demons: Richard Underhill, Kelly Jefferson, Perry White and Stych Wynston for giving us a leg up, Jim McCarty of the Yardbirds for with help with recording and with backing vocals on 'For Your Love', the Toronto Bylaw officers, and of course, the people on the streets of Toronto.
